This is a photograph of the 'Miracle on Ice.' An USA team composed of amateur and collegiate players beat the long-dominant and heavily-favored Soviet Union in a match held on February 22 1980 in Lake Placid New York during the 1980 Winter Olympics. They later went on to the win the Gold Medal beating Finland 4-2. The USA was seeded seventh in the competition and was not expected to compete. They proved everyone wrong and pulled one of the biggest upsets ever.
