Art Monk began his Syracuse career as a running back and emerged as an All-American receiver. He ranks sixth on Syracuse’s career receptions list, seventh on the career receiving yards list and holds the Orange record for most receptions in a game (14 vs. Navy, 1977). Monk was named to Syracuse University's All-Century team in November, 1999. Art was selected 18th overall selection in the 1980 National Football League draft by the Washington Redskins and went on to play 16 seasons for the Redskins, New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles. He ranks fifth on the NFL’s career reception list with 940. A two-time Super Bowl Champion who played in three NFL Championship games, Monk gained 12,721 yards on 940 receptions and scored 68 touchdowns in 224 games during his NFL career.
