It featured those memorable 2001 World Series thrills and goodbyes the 2003 Aaron Boone Walk Off and more recently Derek Jeters Amazing dive and Alex Rodriguezs 500th HR. Fittingly during the final home stand Derek Jeter became the all time hit leader at Yankee Stadium passing Lou Gehrig and sealing a record that can never be broken. 2008 Marked the end of an American era in sports. On September 21st 2008 on a Sunday evening in the Bronx NY Yankee Stadium opened its hallowed gates one final time the historic park which had hosted 39 World Series and 26 Championships teams was finally coming to a close.
