Following in the footsteps of Taiwanese baseball superstars like Chien-Ming Wang and Chin-Feng Chen Hon-Chih Kuo came to the United States in search of a pro baseball career. In 1999 he signed with the Dodgers but elbow problems prevented him from making any sort of an impact. Following 2 Tommy John surgeries Kuo was finally able to make it onto the field in 2005. In 2008 Kuo enjoyed a breakout season going 5-3 with a 2.14 ERA over 80 innings pitched.
