John Tonelli was one of the most tenacious and energetic players with the historic Islanders dynasty. He played every game with every ounce of energy in his body but he is best known for his big plays like the famous assist to Bobby Nystrom on May 24 1980 winning the first of four Islanders Stanley Cups and his Series-winning goal against the Penguins in the 1982 playoffs to propel them to their third Stanley Cup.
