Michael Jordan is to basketball what Muhammad Ali is to boxing: the greatest. While in college, Jordan led the University of North Carolina to the NCAA Title in 1982. He then embarked on his legendary NBA career, guiding the Chicago Bulls to six NBA titles and winning MVP honors five times. After retiring, then playing baseball, then returning to the NBA and retiring again, Jordan, in 2001, returned to the NBA to play hoops for the struggling Washington Wizards. Larry Bird was more than just "the hick from French Lick." During his 13 years as a Boston Celtic he was the 1980 Rookie of the Year, a 12-time NBA All-Star and scored more than 21,000 career points. In addition to leading the Green and White to three championships, Bird was co-captain of the first U.S.A. Dream Team and led them to Olympic gold in 1992. Bird retired in 1992 and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1998.
