Mike Trout & Bryce Harper Reach Milestones

Both of the biggest young stars reached significant milestones in their early careers last night. Mike Trout reached 1,000 career hits, and Bryce Harper launched the 150th home run of his career. While the two players' personalities show quite a difference, a lot of their game can be compared quite easily, and the numbers are there to prove it.

Trout's 1,000th hit of his career came last night, which was also his 26th Birthday. In the Los Angeles Angels contest versus the Baltimore Orioles, he ripped a double down the third base line to reach the milestone.

Then, to follow in his usual birthday fashion, Trout hit the fourth "Birthday Home Run" of his career. He has now hit four of them in his six-years of being in the Bigs.

It must have been the pregame "shower" his teammates gave him:

The stars were aligned, as over in the National League, Bryce Harper put the 150th home run of his career over the right field wall.

This is where the similarities between the two young stars become ironic. Harper and Trout both hit the 150th home runs at the exact same age, at 24 years, 295 days. How incredible is that? To both be in the league and leading phenomenal careers is a blessing to the fans as it is, but to also match monumental milestones all the way down to the exact day? It's just phenomenal how their careers have paralleled.

Trout and Harper both won Rookie of the Year accolades in their freshman campaigns. Trout has one more year of MLB service than Harper, but to compare them even further:

All-Star selections:
    • Trout - 6
    • Harper - 5
MVP seasons:
    • Trout - 2
    • Harper - 1
While there are still some areas in their game that might have some differences, it's uncanny how well they have both excelled at the major league level at such a young age. It will be more than exciting to see what else they can do down the line in their careers.
