MLB All Star Game Recap

The Major League Baseball All Star Game also took place, with the American League team coming away with a 2-1 victory. We're summarizing a few key moments from each event here for you.

The 2017 MLB All Star Game

The American League and National League teams battled into extra innings until they were able to decide the winner in a tight pitchers' duel at Miami Marlins Park. It was the AL squad who opened up scoring in the top of the fifth inning with a couple of back-to-back two-out hits from Jonathan Schoop and Miguel Sano. The NL All Stars got a huge boost an inning later from the St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina.  The perennial All Star drilled a pitch to right field to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth.

Both teams were held there until it was the American League who struck again. It took extra innings, but the Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano took a 1-1 pitch from Wade Davis to the right field seats. The 10th inning shot gave the AL all it needed for Cleveland Indians closer Andrew Miller to come in and close things out.

Cano earned All Star Game MVP honors for his clutch home run.

Through the 88 games played in MLB All Star history, both Leagues now have identical records (43-43-2).
