MLB All-Star Game Rosters Review

This year marks the 88th Midsummer Classic, the 2017 MLB All-Star Game, which opens up Friday and runs through July 11th. The Miami Marlins are hosting with five days surrounding the main All-Star Game and Home Run Derby events. These days are filled with FanFest fun, All-Star Legends, autograph sessions and many other hands-on activities.

Voting Results

On July 3rd, Major League Baseball officially announced the starters, and roster of players (listed below) who will be taking the field for the 2017 All-Star Game on Tuesday July 11th at Marlins Park.

From the National League, Bryce Harper tallied over 4.6 million votes to lead all players in the voting.  In his fifth major-league season, Harper is making his fifth All Star appearance, and his fourth start. The 24-year-old returned to form after sliding a bit last season, and has put up great numbers through the first half of 2017 (.324 AVG / 20 HR / 64 RBI / .431 OBP).

The New York Yankees' rookie phenom, Aaron Judge, led the American League candidates, receiving nearly 4.5 million votes, and earning a starting job in the outfield. His rookie campaign has been nothing short of sensational. He has led the majors in home runs, and is the American League front-runner for Rookie of the Year and MVP, as he is also at the top in most offensive categories.

You asked - he answered. And he's bringing a surprise guest along to participate in the HR Derby, too...

After much speculation on whether or not he would participate, he finally made his statement:

"Just wanted to let you know that I'll be participating in the Home Run Derby... and even better, I've got a friend coming with me!"

That's right, folks! Gary Sanchez will join Aaron Judge on the American League team for the Home Run Derby on Monday, July 10th, along with Charlie Blackmon of the Colorado Rockies, Mike Moustakas of the Kansas City Royals, the Miami Marlins' hometown-sluggers Giancarlo Stanton and Justin Bour, Cody Bellinger of the Los Angeles Dodgers,  and Miguel Sano of the Minnesota Twins.

The final spot of each roster is still up for grabs through Thursday afternoon. Players in the final American League vote are Didi Gregorious, Elvis Andrus, Xander Bogaerts, Logan Morrison, and Mike Moustakas. On the NL side, Justin Bour, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rendon, Mark Reynolds, and Justin Turner. You can vote here.

"See you in Miami!"
