NBA Awards Recap

Last night, the NBA on TNT hosted their first annual award show in New York City, which recognizes the top players, plays, and moments from the past season. Russell Westbrook and Bill Russell were the most talked-about, but we also compiled some of the highlights from the two-hour long broadcast.

Bill Russell stole the show with one of the most memorable moments of the night. He was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and when he received it on stage, THIS hilarious moment occurred:

"M-V-P!"

The most highly-anticipated award of the night was the MVP Award. It had come down to James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Kawhi Leonard. We analyzed this last week, and as predicted, Westbrook came away with the Maurice Podoloff Trophy for his performance this season.

Rookie of the Year

Malcolm Brogdon earned Rookie of the Year honors last night after he score over 700 points this season.

Joel Embiid had an impressive rookie run during his time on the court, posting a phenomenal line of 20.2 PPG & 7.8 RPG, however he only played in 31 games.

Brogdon's most memorable plays were often highlighted with a posterizing dunk over some of the league's top names. The list of posters includes LeBron James and Kyrie Irving:

Dunk of the Year

Dunk, Block, Assist, and Game-Winner of the Year:

Dunk of the Year: Victor Oladipo

Block of the Year: Kawhi Leonard

On top of the highlights and review of the 2016-17 season, Drake provided some funny bits throughout the night as the host of the show. Some of his best jokes can be seen here:

With this being the First Annual NBA Awards on TNT, it's safe to say that with the amount of entertainment that they packed into the two hour show, it will be a successful program for years to come.
