The 5 Worst Ceremonial First Pitches Ever

Last night at Guaranteed Rate Field, we were reminded of just how much someone could botch a first pitch.

A Chicago White Sox employee was named "Employee of the Month", and for her efforts she was granted the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at last night's game. Clearly, her pitch wasn't as effective as her ability as an employee.

Hopefully the photographer got a good picture, at least.

Let's take a trip back in time and look at what we decided are the top 5 worst first pitches of all-time:

5. Mark Mallory

The former Cincinnati mayor was hoping to make a lasting impact during his tenure in office. Unfortunately, this became his calling-card.

4. Jordan Leandre

Jordan conquered cancer and was even featured singing the National Anthem in Fever Pitch. As part of the Jimmy Fund Telethon, he threw out the first pitch to former chairman Mike Andrews. Once again, the photographer was a casualty.

3. Carly Rae Jepsen

Worst pitch, maybe? She missed home plate so, so bad. The pop star displayed good form, but a historically awful release point. At least she was a good sport about it.

2. Mariah Carey

Carly wasn't the first pop star to miss the mark. Mariah Carey's first pitch in Japan was a spectacle - spectacularly awful. Rumor has it she may have been faking her lack of pitching prowess to reflect more as a diva, but either way she gave us one for the history books with this legendary klunker.

1. 50 Cent

As far as this author is concerned, this will always be the worst first pitch of all-time. Some pitches have been worse (somehow), but it's the context that sells it. A tough, self-proclaimed gangster rapper delivering an inexcusably horrible first pitch.

What do you think are the five worst first pitches of all-time?

Does the White Sox employee belong on the list?
