Mariano Rivera is the greatest closer in the history of Major League Baseball. The man who was at one point a failed starting pitcher for the Bronx Bombers would use persistence and one pitch to build a Hall of Fame-worthy career. In a career that spanned 19 years, Rivera holds the major league record Saves (652) games finished (952) and ERA + (205).

A little-known prospect hailing from Panama, who was the cousin of elite minor league prospect Ruben Rivera. Mariano was once an afterthought starting pitcher amongst the Yankees minor league ranks, upon his call up to the major leagues, Rivera would blossom into a dominant reliever for the dynasty era New York Yankees. In a stretch that saw the New York Yankees win four world championships in five seasons.
