Description
The 1955 Dodgers are one of the great stories of baseball, as the underdog Dodgers finally beat their nemesis, the vaunted New York Yankees. Collectors have been searching for years to own a single signed baseball of all of the team members, including their favorites like Sandy Koufax, Duke Snider, Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Gil Hodges and more. Ironically, the most difficult of all to obtain is that of Karl Spooner (dec. 1984), who as rookie in 1954, started two games for the Dodgers, both complete game shutouts, throwing 18 innings, giving up 7 total hits and no runs. His 27 strikeouts in two successive games was an NL record. Although an arm injury in Spring Training of 1955 limited his effectiveness, he appeared in 29 games and started Game 6 of the World Series. Extreme rarity is the best way to describe a single-signed Spooner baseball. Offered here is a vintage Spalding official National League (Giles) baseball hand signed and inscribed "Mike Best 5/79" by Karl Spooner. The autograph is guaranteed authentic, includes a Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication. Who will be the one to complete their 55 Dodgers signed baseball collection?
