Growing up in Los Angeles and Orange County, the volleyball star would play beach volleyball at the Santa Monica Pier as a young kid and played in her first tournament with her father at just eight years old. At Newport Harbor High School, May-Treanor won two state indoor volleyball championships and one Division I All-CIF team Player of the Year award, while also being named the best high school girls' volleyball player in the country by USA Today. She would go on to play college volleyball for the Long Beach State 49ers, where she led them to an undefeated season and a national championship in 1998, while winning her second consecutive National Player of the Year award. Truly embracing her Southern California roots, May-Treanor turned professional in beach volleyball and had a career of dominance never seen before or since. Teamed with Kerri Walsh Jennings, they would set many records in the AVP and FIVB, while also winning three gold medals.Misty May-Treanor has autographed this image.
