The veteran superstar joined the expansion team in its inaugural season and they both found success right away. In the first home game in San Diego, Morgan became just the third player in NWSL history to score four goals in a game as the Wave secured their first ever victory in a 4-0 game. She would go on to score a career-high 15 goals that season and won the NWSL Golden Boot as the league's highest scorer for the season. San Diego became the first ever expansion team to reach the playoffs in its first season and made it to the semifinals. The following year, Morgan and the Wave would win the NWSL Shield with the best regular season record in the league, which led to a Challenge Cup win to open the 2024 season, in which Morgan scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute to take home a 1-0 victory. Morgan retired during the 2024 season and her iconic number 13 was retired by the Wave in 2025.This ball is autographed by Alex Morgan.
